User Config / Windows Settings / Scripts Not Shown in GPOE

Hi All,

I just upgraded to the GPOE on my laptop from the old style group
policy mmc snap-in. When I go to look for the logon scripts section, I
can't find it. I am looking in User Configuration / Windows Settings.
All I see is Remote Installation Services.

When I look at the same thing in the old mmc snapin on my (windows
2000) domain controller, the logon scripts section is present and I can
create the logon script there.

Also, when I go back to the GPOE program on my laptop (windows xp), I
see the new logon script in the Settings tab on the group policy. I
just can't create it in the GPOE.

Any ideas of what is going on?

Roger,

Thank you for your reply. The link is:

I should have said that I updated to the Group Policy Management
program that helps manage the group policies. When you edit a specific
GPO, it launches the Group Policy Object Editor (GPOE). In the GPOE, I
can't find the logon scripts section.

Windows XP and will work on a Windows 2003 or 2000 domain. We're using
a Windows 2000 domain.

I was thinking maybe I had to add an administrative template (adm
file), but it doesn't show up in the administrative templates section
on the older MMC interface.

Ah . . . got you now.

As you posted into a Windows 2000 group, and GPMC cannot install
on that version of Windows, I was wondering.
So, you are editing some GPO in you AD and there is no Scripts section
in the Users area. Well, it should be there just were you are used to it.

I would suggest first installing GPMC elsewhere in order to get an idea
whether you are dealing with the GPMC install on your laptop or whether
you have an issue with that GPO.

I have had issues a couple times with GPMC that I did fix by an uninstall
and reinstall of GPMC, but the issues were other than you report.
