what if integrated windows aut. doenn't work?Hi,
I read that integrated windows authentification in IIS only works with IE and not over http-proxy connections. Suppose i have an application which must be reached by every domain-users from internet, but some has other browser not compatible with integrated windows authentification, what's the best alternative? Thanks Phil Hi,
Integrated Windows Authentication includes NTLM, which is currently supported by IE, Firefox, Opera (and probably most other major browsers). However, it does not work through most proxy servers. If this is a problem, you need to use some other authentication mechanism (e.g. Basic or Digest). There is a fair amount of information to cover, and I've included a starter in this month's IIS Insider column: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/columns/insider/default.mspx (note, the link above will shortly refer to the May IIS Insider column, so you'll need to find the April edition in the archives, there is a link down the bottom of the page) Cheers Ken Show quoteHide quote "phil" <s**@sd.dc> wrote in message news:eFwbQDncGHA.4892@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > Hi, > > I read that integrated windows authentification in IIS only works with IE > and not over http-proxy connections. > Suppose i have an application which must be reached by every domain-users > from internet, but some has other browser not compatible with integrated > windows authentification, what's the best alternative? > Thanks > Phil > >
