.exe file downloads return 404 in IIS6.0Hi all,
I set up an IIS6.0 server and have some downloads that are executable files. When I try to download them using both IE and FireFox, it returns a http404. I thought I had found a solution online http://blogs.msdn.com/david.wang/archive/2005/07/11/Allow_file_downloads_on_IIS_6.aspx, and it told me I must not have "Scripts and Executables" set in the Execute Permissions. I changed it to just "Scripts only" but still have the same problem. Anything I've missed? Thanks, Neil PS - If theres anything else you need to know, just say. Please post the relevant log file entries from the IIS logfile. There is a
HTTP substatus code that is logged that will tell us why you are getting a 404. Additionally, if you have URLScan installed, ensure that .exe are allowed. followup things that you should try. Also, I recommend re-reading the entry - you have definitely missed details from the blog entry that are critical to your diagnosis. -- Show quoteHide quote//David IIS http://blogs.msdn.com/David.Wang This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. // "Neil Barras" <dontspamme@spammenot.com> wrote in message news:9_v4g.1733$EM5.1060@newsfe3-win.ntli.net... > Hi all, > > I set up an IIS6.0 server and have some downloads that are executable > files.
