IIS Always asking for credentialsA couple of my PC computers where recently automatically updated by
Microsoft, and now when I try to save or retrieve a web page in either of my PCs', to or from my personal web server that happens to be IIS 5.1 through Front Page; IIS is asking me for User Id. and password. On top the "localhost" page normally available through Internet Explorer is not available anymore, it gives an HTTP Internal Server Error I tried file permissions on the inetpub folder to no avail as well as changing the directory security options in the IIS Console with no success. I didn't set IIS to ask for credentials, anybody can please tell me how to re-set IIS Help is greatly appreciated -- I belive that in helping others, you help yourself Try running filemon to see what is getting access denied. Have you checked
the event log to see what directories are showing up as failure audits. I am sorry I didn't answer before, but I was busy performed the suggested messures. In the even viewer I got an error with Source: Service Control Manager Event ID: 7000 The description reads: The Ftdsuipfrc service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified. I tried a SC QUERY FTSSUIPFRC at the command prompt and return a WIN32_EXIT_CODE of zero I went to services and try to start the FTSSUIPFRC service and got: "Could not start the FTDSUIPFRC service in local computer. Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified." I right click the service to see his properties, and the path to executable is directed to C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmmon32.exe. I search for the file and it is there. I looked at the service's log on tab and it is set to Local system account and at the bottom lists "Profile one" Still, when I try to load the "Localhost" in my browser I got "Localhost HTTP 500 INTERNAL SERVER ERROR. I can, though browse my local web pages directing the browser to the URL: http://my_computer/"site name" meaning that the local server is serving them. I can load my local web pages into Front Page but I can not published changes made to pages in the web to my local server, like I used before. I tried to run filemon as instructed but that program is not in my XP PRO install I checked the "Directory Security" of the web sites in IIS and they are set to anonymous. I really don't know what is happening your help is greatly appreciated.
