IIS 6.0 Windows Integrated Authentication Problem - 401.2 ErrorProblem Description: The problem occurs when I create a new website in IIS 6.0, I disable anonymous access and enable only Windows Integrated Authentication. I place a simple html page in the directory and try to browse to it using IE 6.0 SP1. I immediately receive an error (HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to server configuration.). I have created a number of sites and all behave the same way. The site into which SharePoint Portal Server 2003 SP1 is installed works fine with only Windows Authentication and so does the default website. This problem occurs while browsing locally on the same server and remotely from my desktop. The server is part of a domain. System Configuration Windows Server 2003 SP1 (Application Server) MS SQL Server 2000 SP3a Visual Studio.NET 2003 MS Office Professional 2003 SharePoint Portal Server 2003 SP1 Windows SharePoint Servers SP1 Specific Error Detail: You are not authorized to view this page You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied because your Web browser is sending a WWW-Authenticate header field that the Web server is not configured to accept. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please try the following: Contact the Web site administrator if you believe you should be able to view this directory or page. Click the Refresh button to try again with different credentials. HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to server configuration. Internet Information Services (IIS) ===================================================== Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance. Sanjay Malhotra Check the NTFS permsiiosn for the site's directory. If you want everyone
on a Winndows network to acess the site, add permissions for the local account "authenticated users". You may have to reset permissions for existing files if parent permissions were not propagated. ...PC manjos wrote: Show quoteHide quote > Hi, > > Problem Description: > > The problem occurs when I create a new website in IIS 6.0, I disable > anonymous access and enable only Windows Integrated Authentication.
