Read only messageI have been sent an Access 97 program (front end only). When I try to open
it in Access 2002, with out converting, I get the message "Cannot Update. Database or Object is Read Only". The read only property is 'false.' Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks Geoff On Fri, 07 Nov 2008 04:21:04 GMT, "Geoff"

convert the database to that newer version, it is read-only (in that you cannot modify any objects in design view). This message is just letting you know that you can't do anything like try to go into design view for a form, for example. You can still use the file without converting, but you cannot change anything but data. -- Show quoteHide quoteBob Larson Access MVP Free Tutorials and Samples at http://www.btabdevelopment.com __________________________________ "Geoff" wrote: > I have been sent an Access 97 program (front end only).
