Error "Could Not Lock File"5 users. Each user has an application file on their computer and each application is linked to the tables in the data.mdb file on the server. I am using Windows XP and MsAccess 2000 We just changed from Windows NT4.0 to Server 2003 I moved my data files to the new server and set sharing to Full Control for the folders. I also checked to Inherit Parent Permissions as I have always done in the past. I have never set up security permissions before. Now only one user at a time can access and edit the data files. I have Tools/Options set for the default “Sharedâ€, and “No Locks†When I try to open the linked application on a second computer I receive the error “Could not lock file.†I set up a test .mdb file with only one table and no matter what I do, only one user at a time can edit the table. I have also played with the security tab giving each user full control. Still each computer can access and edit the file but only one at a time. Can any one help? Thanks in Advance Paul M Hi, Paul.
> When I try to open the linked application on a second computer I receive This is sufficient proof that you do not have modify permissions to add a > the > error "Could not lock file." user's entry to the locking database file (*.LDB). Therefore, you do not have Full Control Windows security permissions on that directory. HTH. Gunny See http://www.QBuilt.com for all your database needs.
