No exclusive access

If I set up a startup form for a database and then open the database as a
user without admin permissions then the startup form opens and dozens
messages appear saying that the user does not have exclusive access to the
database.

If there is no startup form or if the user bypasses the startup settings
using a Shift key and then opens the form from the database window, then
everything works fine.

What may be a problem here?

Is it 31 times? If so, this is caused by Adobe version 7.
Control Panel, Add/remove programs, find Adobe, click Modify -> create Adobe
PDF. Expand to Acrobat PDF Maker and expand to locate Access; deselect the
add-in for Access.

Exactly - 31 times. And I had 31 forms in this db so I supposed something
was wrong with the forms. However, after I deleted half of the forms it was
still 31 times.

What happens is that the startup form closes the built-in menu bar and opens
a custom one. Then Adobe tries to add its menu to this custom menu and
requires exclusive access for this operation. If there is no custom menu
then Adobe adds its menu to the built-in menu and does not require exclusive
access.

The problem is that even when the application does not close the built-in
menu bar and only opens its the custom menu in addition to the built-in
menu, then Adobe still tries to add its menu to the custom one, not to the
built-in menu, and still requires exclusive access.

Maybe there is a way to make Adobe use the built-in Access menu?

Not that I'm aware of - try customer support at Adobe. The only workaround
at this point is to remove the addin for Access.

Let us know if they have anything to say about it.
