Opening MDB with and a workgroup file.I have the Administrator ID and Password but when I attempt to open the db using the following shortcut. "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\MSACCESS.EXE" "C:\HCB\HCB Reconciliation Tracking.mdb" /wrkgrp "C:\HCB\HCBRECON.mdw" /user Administrator I receive the an "Not a Valid Account & Password". If I remove the /user switch I receive the following error: "You do not have the necessary permissions to use the <name> object. Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you. (Error 3033)" I was able to access the MDB prior to our Network move. Any help would be appreciated. Are all your drivers up to date? click for free checkup The shortcut was the same except instead of C:\ drive it referenced a shared
drive. Show quoteHide quote "TC" wrote: > What was the shortcut *before* the network move? > > TC > > I don't really see how the error that you describe, could occur. AFAIK,
if the database is properly secured, and the shortcut does *not* include the /pwd (sp?) switch, then, the logon box should always appear, and the /user switch just specifies a username to display by default (in that box). So I think you have probably change something extra to what you have said that you changed. HTH, TC You are correct, if I add the /user switch on I am receive a logon screen.
However when I enter in the password, I receive an error "Invalid user or password" I am 100% positive that I am entering in the password correctly. I am signing on as an Administrator. Could it be possible that the Administrator does not have any privileges? How could I check? I have tried everything. The only thing I can think of is that the mdw file is corrupt. Any help would be appreciated. Show quoteHide quote "TC" wrote: > I don't really see how the error that you describe, could occur. You just can't be. If Access rejects an entered username/password,then: - the username is incorrect (ie. doesn't exist), or - the password is not correct for that username. Have you tried pressing the Caps Lock key before entering the password? Perhaps you thought you entered it in lowercase but actually did it in uppercase - or vice versa. Remember that the usernames & passwords are defined in the workgroup information file (wgf) - not the database file. Maybe you are using the wrong wgf. If you double-click an MDB, the system uses the default wgf for that PC. If you start the MDB via a shortcut which uses the /wrkgrp switch, the system uses the wgf selected by that /wrkgrp switch. > I am signing on as an Administrator. No, if Access has rejected your username/password, then, you have notsigned-on as anyone yet. > Could it be possible that the Administrator does not have any That would not explain the problem that you now describe.privileges? > I have tried everything. Have you checked what wgf you are actually using?> The only thing I can think of is that the mdw file is corrupt. Unlikely IMO.HTH, TC
