access security and XP NetworksI have an Access database that has security. A number of users utilise the
database (with different permissions) but to date it has only been resident on a stand alone PC. I recently moved the database to a PC that is on an XP network, albeit only to the C:\ drive on a PC not to the server. Now when a user opens the database the logon from within Access has disappeared and no one has any permissions. I tried using identical user id's for network logon and within Access but it didn't solve the problem. What am I doing worng? Thanks David Probably, the original database was started via a Windows shortcut
which identified the database, /and/, another file which is called the workgroup information file. You need to copy the database, /and/ the workgroup information file, /and/, the shortcut, to the new PC. And you will probably have to alter the shortcut to account for the new locations of MS Access, the database, and the workgroup file, on the new PC. HTH, TC (off for the day)
