Permission problemfor a few years. Somehow, something got messed up with my computer last night and it prompted me to have Microsoft repair itself. I allowed it and stupiedly said to have it reset everything to defult. After that, a warning started popping up every time I opened my database. I remember fixing that from happening before and attempted to do it again. That is where things went wrong. I dont even know what I did now but every time I attempt to open my database I get the following error: You do not have the necessary permissions to use the <name> object. Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you. I was the one who created the object, and I do not have any idea how to grant myself permission again. How can I fix it? It looks like I can still access the back up copy, and it looks pretty up to date. If I cannot fix the origional problem, can I just change the back up copy to the main one? how would I do that? It may be the the MS "repair" has set the Access back to the default workgroup. Ideally you should stay joined to the default "system.mdw" and only switch to your custom workgroup on an "as required" basis using a desktop shortcut with the "/wrkgrp" switch in the command line. HTH - Keith. www.keithwilby.com Great! That worked. The problem now is that it is asking for a username and
password. It inserts the username of the computer in it and if I leave the password blank, it will let me in. It never asked for a password like that before and Id rather not have it. Im afraid to poke around with the security again to try to fix it. Is there an easy fix? I can live with it. Can't you just re-create that shortcut?
