Workgroup permissions for Access 97 DB (permissions error)We have an old Access 97 db that we need access to (so to speak). The
developer who originally created this file is no longer with the organization. One user who has been here for 10 years is still able to access the DB, but we are unable to grant access or permissions to new users. These new users have full access to the file system, but when trying to access the DB they receive the following message: "You do not have the necessary permissions to use the '\\servername\sharename\filename.mdb' object. Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you." How do we go about upgrading this DB to the Access 2003 or 2007 and allowing new users to access the DB ? Most of our other apps use MS SQL Server now and we no longer have any Access developers on staff. TIA ... Find the user name and password of the db owner or a member of the admins
group for the secure workgroup. After logging in, that user can upgrade the db to Access 2003, upgrade the mdw file, add new users, etc. Chris E-Double wrote: >We have an old Access 97 db that we need access to > >How do we go about upgrading this DB to the Access 2003 or 2007 and allowing >new users to access the DB ? TIA ... -- Message posted via AccessMonster.com http://www.accessmonster.com/Uwe/Forums.aspx/access-security/200906/1 Files and Other Objects have more than one access list and the default is the
user who create it.And by default users in admin group can change the security Police of the file or(Other Objects). So you can get the admin account to grant the security.
