word 2003 says i do not have access priviliges to open my files

all of a sudden word 2003 comes up with an error message saying i dont have
access priviliges to my own files. I have tried everything short of throwing
my computer out the window, and I am too that point. I have some very
important projects in word. I did not set any passwords or mess with security
settings. I recently contracted a virus that wreaked havoc on my system. and
the problems started after that. It not only affects word but i am locked out
of all of my adobe files as well.....please help....Thank You
