Office 2000 Access 2003 Exclusive Open RightsHi, I have the above system at home and am trying to secure a dbase so that
only I can open it with a password. Does anyone know how to do this as I don't have the option to open exclusively. Thanks "Lucy" <L***@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message Opening exclusively doesn't make your app secure, it just means that news:2B50E7FE-CFC5-43CD-90C2-5FDF648013E6@microsoft.com... > Hi, I have the above system at home and am trying to secure a dbase so > that > only I can open it with a password. You can either set a database password (easy, not very secure) or invoke user-level security (very difficult to learn, more secure than the db password but still hackable). Alternatively you could use Windows NTFS file permissions to deny access to the host folder to all other users on your PC. Which do you want? Keith. www.keithwilby.com Hi Keith
Thanks for this I only need to password protect it so that no-one else can open it without the password (we have no techies here so shouldn't be a problem with hackers etc). Can you help me with this?? Only I can't see how to do it!! Thanks again. Access, select the mdb, then click the dropdown beside Open button and choose Open Exclusively. -- Joan Wild Microsoft Access MVP Hi, Thank you both but I am back to square 1 - I don't have an exclusive open
option and the set password is blanked out on my system. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or how I unlock this facility please?? open. In that dialog box the Open button at the bottom has a dropdown next to it. In that dropdown, you'll find the Open Exclusive option.
