An easy solution??? Folder permissions...

I would prefer not to fool around with MS Access security if I don't have to.
I only need two simple types of users - administrators who have access to
everything, and read-only users who cannot enter information or
anything...they can only look at the information in the database.

Does anyone know if I can cheat in this instance by assigning read only and
write/modify permissions to the FOLDER in which my DB sits...anyone know if
this works with Access as it would with Word?

Thanks for any assistance!

Hi Tanya,
No, that will not work. Access requires that all users have full permissions
to the folder where the database resides. However, you can set the
permissions on the database itself to read only for some users and
write/modify for others.

Lynn,
I didn't know that about the folder. Thank you for the information!
