Microsoft Access 2002 User-Level Security access from networkHi,
I am trying to figure out how to allow multiple users & multiple pc's on my network access to my Access 2002 database. I already created a workgroup file and the usernames and passwords for the database. I placed it into a shared folder on the Main server, but still cannot access it from other pc's on the domain. The error I get is that the user does not have neccasry permissions. Do I have to set up users for each workstation to have access? If so, how? After reading through an Access manual, all it states is that the database must be in a shared directory. Does anyone have any ideas?

Does anyone have any ideas? workgroup file must be on the server with your database file. You would typically join the workgroup on a session by session basis using a shortcut with the "/wrkgrp" switch. Incidentally, it's also considered a good idea by many experienced developers to split the application too. If you have a shufty around this group you'll find a wealth of information and links that will help you with all of this. HTH - Keith. www.keithwilby.com
