I have  a 2000 Database.  I converted to 2002-2003.  I ran the
compact/repair.  I ran the Make MDE.  Now my computer just sits, why?  How
long does it normally take to create a MDE file?  Also, I have noticed while
access it locked up there is also a new file that it create, a db1.  why is
it doing this?  Is it supposed to be this way?

After converting to 2002/3, hit Ctrl-G and then Debug, Compile; then hit the
save button.  Close the window and try to create a mde again.

Part of the process of creating a mde is a compact (and a db1 is created
during that process).
