What do you mean that you can't access our mdw file? Are  you trying to open
it?

The DB we have uses a custom secuirty group. There are two people in that
group that has admin rights to make changes to the DB. One person is no
longer here at the company, the other person's password isn't working. Is
there a way to get around the security group? Set it back to the default MS
access security group?

Try having that person rejoin the system.mdw file that ships with Access by
default. It shouldn't have a password associated with it.

First join to the group and then try to open an access file you will be asked
to provide the user credentials.

during the process try to provide a valid user account details. Here there
is an option to view the information of User ID but the password will be
encrypted.

so if you have a valid information you can you the access database along
with the workgroup.

there is one more way to get the user ID and password, here you need to
purchase the software which reveals the information.
http://www.thegrideon.com/access-password-recovery.html infact there are
many softwares here is one.
