New Post - Owner deleted - No backups, nothing!Joan Wild gave up! Can anyone else help me?
Database (MS Access 2003) That someone deleted the designer of the DB. No one knows anything, but I do not know enough about it to hack into it. I have asked for Network Admin rights to the folder it is in and all files in that folder. Still waiting for those rights. I have rights to the DB, but can not even look at the macros. I can look at the queries and tables and forms, but can not modify anything on them. I must somehow unsecured the DB and get ownership of it again. I am not sure if anyone other then the designer had admin rights, but somehow they managed to delete him and I am not even sure what his user name was. Why Me? Joan Wild is an MVP, whom I doubt would have just "given up"!
I have not seen your original thread, so I can't comment on what you were told, but it seems to me that since you can see the queries, tables and forms, but not change anything, then what you have is an MDE or ADE. If that's the case, then you're just out of luck, and there's nothing that anyone can do about it. End of story. Can you verify the file extension? MDB, MDE, ADP, ADE? I have avoided Access Security because of great "Network" security where I have been. If this is a dead-end, please reconmend software that can be bought. I can not beleive that Microsoft wrote such a poor Security feature that someone can blow away the creator of the DB and yet not be able to become "Owner" of the DB. Had you considered news:1A164A5B-B520-471A-BC13-64CB39A0F9FB@microsoft.com... > Joan Wild gave up! that Joan might have left her PC for a few days? I'm sure she has a life away from here, as do we all. Do you have the correct workgroup file? Keith. Is the problem that you can't change anything or that you literally can't see
code, table choices, etc.? When the database opens up, hold down shift while clicking on Open. If your problem is that the window doesn't show any tables options, forms, macro's choices, etc. that should take care of the problem. Hope that helps and if it doesn't well maybe someone else will stumble across it in a time of need. -- Later, Darrin Message posted via AccessMonster.com http://www.accessmonster.com/Uwe/Forums.aspx/access-security/200607/1 Sorry dear, I did not give up. I went on vacation for a week (indeed am
still on vacation). Given that you can get into the tables/queries/macros, I suspect that you have a mde file. Just because it has a mdb extension, doesn't mean it is a mdb. That could have been changed. Also since someone was able to get in and 'set up your account', that username is a member of the Admins group. -- Show quoteHide quoteJoan Wild Microsoft Access MVP Why ME? wrote: > Joan Wild gave up!
