New at this,I am using Microsoft access 97,  I have read all the security
tutorials and am still confused. What I would like to do is have the database
read only for all users except for the admin. who will be able to make
changes.  I would like to do this without any passwords.
Any suggestions
Thanks

You can set up security so that no login is required, since you really have
only two groups (you as administrator, and everyone else).

See http://www.jmwild.com/SecureNoLogin.htm for step by step.

Thanks I got down to step 12 and it would not accept the password, I backed
up my computer so that I could recover the program,
Any suggestions on what I might have done wrong.

Step 12 tells you to login as the user you created.  The password will be
blank/empty/nothing.  You may be thinking that the PID you used is a
password - it isn't.  Try step 12 with the correct username, but leave the
password blank.
